ABOUT THE PRINT
About The Artist: Henry Thomas Alken (1785–1851) was an English painter and engraver best known for his humorous and detailed illustrations of sporting life and coaching scenes. Born in Westminster, he trained under his father and J.T. Barber. Between 1816 and 1831, Alken was especially prolific, producing numerous works often published by Thomas McLean. He married Maria Gordon and had five children, including two artist sons.
