ABOUT THE PRINT
About The Artist: Emil Volkers (1831–1905) was a renowned 19th-century German portraitist, celebrated for his equestrian paintings. Trained at the Dresden and Munich Art Academies under masters like Rietschel and the Adam brothers, he developed a distinct style admired by European aristocracy. Based in Düsseldorf, Volkers frequently visited prominent stables and earned commissions from royalty, including William I and Prince Charles of Romania. His deep understanding of horse anatomy set his work apart.
